Feelings matter

    Connect with your feelings

It is important that you really feel the things you write down. That is, to connect with the positive feelings of the experience.

The intensity of the emotion determines how well we store and remember things in our brain.

And the stronger and more intense our positive feelings, the better it is stored.

Therefore, try to dwell on the positive experience a little longer and really connect with your positive feelings.

For example, by spending 5, 10, or even 20 seconds on this, without letting your attention wander to anything else.

    Let it really sink in

This ensures that the positive experience penetrates you deeply and is better stored in your memory.

Research shows that the longer something is held in consciousness and the stronger the emotions associated with it, the more neurons are activated and fuse together, strengthening the connection in our brain.

You can also reinforce your positive feelings by reminding yourself of other similar situations and experiences and connecting with the feelings that go with them.

The challenge is to try to enjoy the experience as much as possible.

One way to enjoy an experience more is to feel or imagine how the positive feelings of this experience flow through your body.

How to let a positive experience flow through your body

There are several ways to feel or image positive experiences and feelings flow through your body.

Some feel it in their body as a warm glow spreading through their chest, similar to the feeling of drinking a hot cup of chocolate on a cold winter’s day.

Others visualize the experience as a golden syrup pouring down from your head, bringing good feelings and soothing old pain, filling holes of loss or longing.

Still others imagine a glittering diamond ending up in the treasure chest of their hearts.

Some imagine that the positive experience fires neurons in our brains and fuses brain cells together to form a positive memory.

However you envision this, try to relax your body as much as possible and fully absorb the emotions, sensations, and thoughts of the experience.

    Keep it positive

Don’t try to forcefully hold on to the positive experiences and feelings. This only leads to tension and disappointment.

The idea is to absorb the experience and positive feeling as much as possible and become filled with it. Above all, it should remain fun and positive.
