Look further

    Look at other areas

Maybe the positive things you have noted until now are limited to only one area of your life.

For example, an area of your life that you value a lot, such as your work, study or relationship.

There is nothing wrong with focusing your attention on the area of your life that you want to improve.

However, it is wise to ask yourself whether your positive experiences are not limited too much to one area or subject.

    The danger

If this is the case, there is a danger that your positive mindset and feelings will become highly dependent on this one area.

And when things don’t go so well and you encounter major setbacks and disappointments in this area, you have little to fall back on.

Imagine that your work is very important to you and all your positive experiences are work related.

If your work is going well, there is nothing to worry about, but if things go wrong, you run the risk of not being able to fall back on anything.

For example, when you are fired or your own company goes bankrupt.

    Less dependent

By drawing positive experiences from multiple areas of your life, you ensure that you do not become dependent on a single area of your life. Life is more than just work or that one area that you prioritize.

By drawing your positive experience from different areas of your life, you will be more resilient to adversity in a single area.

That is why it is advisable to also pay attention to positive things in different areas of life, such as family, friends, social contacts, sports, relaxation, your relationship, finances, hobbies, culture, humor, work, study, personal development, living environment, nature, etc.

It is also possible to work on different areas of life in different periods.

For example, by focusing on a specific area of your life each week and recording positive experiences in that area.
